بين عشق الأنثى وعشق الوطن علاقة لا يعرف سّرها إلّا من فقد الإثنين معاً، إن الوطن في رواية «بلا أجنحة» للكاتبة السورية هلا إسماعيل يتعدى أن يكون مصدراً للإلهام، ومساحة للبوح، وفضاءً لتجلي الحبيب الغائب، إلى أن يغدو لبنة أساسية في تشكيل النص؛ ولهذا كان النضال من أجل الحبّ، والوطن وجهين من أوجه انتزاع المعنى الذي لا يتحقق إلا بوعي قيمة الحياة ذاتها، ففي النص ذلك الشيء الذي تحسه نابعاً من الأرض، وأبطاله معجونون بطينتها، فقاموس الكتابة عند هلا إسماعيل يتسع لكل مستويات الحكي، أخبار وفواجع معاصرة تنبجس في النص لتحيا حياة أخرى، هي حياة ما بعد الغياب، أو ما بعد الفراغ، هنا تصبح الذات محتشدة بالفراغ ، الفراغ من عناقيد التوق، وأسباب الحياة، وامتلاؤها بالضد من كل ذلك، بالحزن، والفقد، والخسارة، من العمر والحبّ والوطن والأصدقاء.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"... لو تعلم يا مصطفى كم أشتهي مفارقة أخيرة تحملني إليك.. لكنني كنتُ كل هذا الوقت في هواك، فراشةً ضعيفةً عاجزة عن التحليق، تائهةً بلا أجنحة.. مزّقتْ شرنقتها وزحفت خلف سطوعك مسحورةً بالنور.. ففاتها أن فراش الفانوس ما لم يحترق، يصابُ بالعمى!!..
نظرتُ إليهم من خلف الزجاج الرطب.. فلمحتُ ابتسامة "باسمة" وقد اكتنفها أبي تحت ذراعه.. قد أبلغها إذاً بقرار معالجة وجهها مهما تكلف من وقتٍ ومال.. زفرتُ همي.. واستعدتُ ذاكرة المخيّم.. كنتُ قد تعودتُ على معظم تفاصيلها إلا رؤية أولئك الأطفال الذين يصحون كل صباح على فراغ المعدة المسّائي.. يوضّبون أشياءهم القليلة.. ويمضون إلى معمل التبغ المتآكل، المُسمى اليوم "مدرستهم".. أولئك الأطفال بحقائب "اليونيسف" الزرقاء الموحدة، وأحذيتهم الكبيرة المتسخة، ومعاطفهم الضيقة المبللة، وخدودهم المحمرة برداً وخزياً.. هم الذين ملأوني يقيناً بخسارة الوطن.. فخراب الوطن يا رجُلي.. يشبه خراب الحبّ.. يُلهب حرائقه في خلايا الذاكرة ويفتح نفق عبورٍ ضيقٍ إلى المجهول.. في الحرب نسلكه إلى بلدٍ غريب.. وفي الحبّ إلى جسدٍ غريب.. ونصدّق أنّا بالغريب نعوض خسارتنا.. لكنها مجرد كذبةٌ رخيصة نصون بها كبرياءنا الأرعن.. فخسارة الوطن يا رجُلي.. كخسارة الحبّ.. غير قابلةٍ للتعويض!!..".
