"... وكانت هناك فتاة، وكان لها ظلّ" عبارة تختصر ما سوف ترويه سَالا سيموكّا عن قصة فتاة عاشت في سالف الأزمان، وكان لها ظلّ أسود يطاردها. وهذه الفتاة تدعى لوميكي بطلة ثلاثية «بياض الثلج» وقد أصبحت الآن في الجزء الثالث والأخير مشهورة بعد أن أنقذت حياة أشخاص من الموت حرقاً!!. ولكن، كيف كان شعورها حينما أصبحت مشهورة؟ وصورها في كل المجلات؟ هكذا تهامس زملائها في المدرسة بانتظار ما سيحدث...
تبدأ الرواية برصد حركة مجموعة من الممثلين المسرحيين داخل مدرسة للفن المسرحي: تستعد المدرسة العليا للفنون لعرض مسرحي جديد مستوحى من قصة "بياض الثلج" الخرافية؛ ولكن بقالب عصري حديث. أما دور البطولة، فيُسنَد بالطبع إلى الجميلة لوميكي أندرسون.
تمضي كل التحضيرات بسلاسة ويسر؛ في الوقت الذي تكتشف فيه لوميكي فجأة انجذاباً وشرارة تُشعل نار حُبٍّ جديد بينها وبين ممثل شاب يلعب دور الصياد.
ترى، هل سيجد السلام والسعادة طريقهما إلى حياتها أخيراً؟ وبينما يقترب موعد الافتتاح، تبدأ لوميكي بتلقي رسائل غريبة من معجب غامض؛ وسرعان ما يتحول إعجابه رويداً رويداً إلى هوس مخيف. تكشف الرسائل الغامضة أجزاء من ماضي لوميكي لا تعرف هي نفسها عنها شيئاً. ويبدأ المعجب السري بتهديدها بأن يقلب حفل الافتتاح رأساً على عقب ما لم توافق على تنفيذ طلباته. وعندما تصمّم لوميكي على اكتشاف هوية مُطاردها، تظهر للعيان أسرار مظلمة من ماضي حياتها وحياة عائلتها. يكاد الوقت ينفذ من بين يديها؛ فحفل الافتتاح يشارف على البداية، ويجب على لوميكي أن تعثر على طريقة تتفوق بها بالذكاء على مطاردها المهووس ذي الروح المظلمة السوداء كالأبنوس.
تتألف ثلاثية «بياض الثلج» من روايات: "حمراء كالدَّم"، و"بيضاء كالثلج"، و"سوداء كالأبنوس". جميعها صادرة بنسختها العربية عن الدار العربية للعلوم ناشرون. مع العلم أن هذه الثلاثية تُرجمت إلى 52 لغة وقريباً سيتم إنتاجها كفيلم سينمائي عالمي.
