غني عن البيان أن الرواية السعودية قد تبوَّأت مكانةَ مميزةَ بين الأجناس الأدبيَّة الأخرى؛ ممَّا جعلها تحظى بكثيرِ من الدراسات النقدية سواء أكانت تلك الدراسات على المستوى الفني واللغة الشعرية أم على مستوى المضامين واختزال الأبعاد الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية والفكرية. بيد أنَّ تلك الدراسات لم تلتفت إلى دراسة الاستهلال السردي في الرواية السعودية المعاصرة على وجه الخصوص.
انطلاقاً من هذا الهم المعرفي سعى الكاتب منصور محمد البلوي في دراسته هذه إلى الوقوف على الاستهلال السردي في أعمال روائيين سعوديين هما "غازي القصيبي"، و"تركي الحمد" وقد جاءت الدراسة في مدخلٍ وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة، أما المدخل فيتحدَّث عن أبرز التعريفات للاستهلال، وأهميَّته، وأشكاله وأنواعه، ووظائفه، من خلال الوقوف على دراسات القدامى والمحدثين. وبين الكاتب في هذا المدخل أهمية الاستهلال في تشكيل النص (المبنى الحكائي) بوصفه منطلقاً سرديًّا يمهِّد لما سيأتي من أحداث وشخصيات، ويفضي بالضرورة إلى تقديم الرؤية، بالإضافة إلى التحديق في أنواع الاستهلال، وتنميطها من خلال النص الروائي (المبنى الحكائي) وتناول الفصل الأول البعدين الزماني والمكاني وأثرهما في تشكيل الاستهلال السردي، بالإضافة إلى الوقوف على منظومة القيم والعادات والتقاليد والأبعاد الثقافية. وأما الفصل الثاني فقد تناول أثر الشخصية ودورها في تشكيل الاستهلال السردي. وذلك من خلال الوقوف على آليات تقديم الشخصية، والتحديق في وصف الشخصية وبنية الاسم ودلالتهما. فيما تناول الفصل الثالث التشكيل الفني للاستهلال السردي، وقد دُرِس فيه اللغة والتناص والانزياح والإيقاع والرمز والأسطورة.
وختم الكاتب دراسته بخاتمةٍ عرض فيها أبرز النتائج التي توصل إليها. يمكن عدُّها إضافة مهمة في دراسة الرواية السعودية المعاصرة، تجدر قراءتها.
