تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى تتبع تحولات المكان وكثافة حضوره في نصوص الرواية السعودية، محاولة رصد أبعاده الرمزية، وتفسير علاقاته المتداخلة، وبيان أثر الأمكنة في المواقف والأفكار، والكشف عن الطرق الفنية التي قدم من خلالها المكان داخل النصوص الروائية، استشرافاً لوسائل وصفه وتوظيفه، واستنطاقاً، لبعض دلالاته الثرية التي توحي بها الأمكنة ضمن علاقاتها الجدلية مع الإنسان تأثراً وتأُيراً من خلال ردود أفعال الشخصيات الروائية.
