يغطي الكتاب المراحل التي مرت بها أجهزة الاتصالات الصينية منذ ما قبل التسعينيات وإلى العام 2014. ويكشف عن أهم الشركات الرائدة في هذه الصناعة ومراكز الأبحاث المُطورة لها، وجوائز براءات الاختراع العديدة التي حازت عليها. إذ اختطفت الصين الحصة الأكبر من السوق الدولية فيما يخص نظام الولوج الثابت إلى الإنترنت، وأنظمة الإرسال البصري، واحتلت المرتبة الثانية في سوق الاتصالات العالمية والمرتبة الثالثة في سوق أجهزة الاتصالات الرقمية. ويشير مؤلف الكتاب أن الصين اليوم تطور الخطة التنفيذية لـ “Internet+” وتنشر مبادرة "صنع في الصين 2025" التي أوضحت أن الهدف منها هو التسريع والتوحيد المتين بين جيل المعلوماتية التقني التالي وبين التصنيع مع السعي إلى وضع أسسٍ مهمة للصين من أجل التطور بشبكة الإنترنت وبطاقة التصنيع.
