كنت أعتقد أن مرحلة التقاعد من العمل الجامعي ستكون مملة، وقد اتضح لي أنه لا صحة لهذا الكلام، حيث اكتشفت وجود حياة نشطة وسعيدة مصحوبة بالمزيد من الحرية التي هي قضية حياتي، وتأكدت أن التقاعد هو من طبع الأقوياء وليس الضعفاء من الناس الذين يودون البدء بمغامرة جديدة للوصول إلى قمة أعلى، ومهمة حياتية جديدة وغاية فكرية أرقى.
هذا الكتاب يحمل اعترافات سنتين خصبتين كل الخصوبة في حياة أكاديمي إماراتي متقاعد، وهو يستعرض شريط الحياة بحلوها ومرّها، ببقعها البيض الكثيرة والبقع السود الأكثر، وبالاعترافات والحكايات التي لا يعرفها كائن من كائن مهما كان قريباً. كانت ومضة من ومضات الثرثرة مع النفس، لكن لم أود لهذه الومضة أن تتلاشى وتختفي كما تتلاشى وتختفي الومضات، لذلك فالكتاب ليس حكاية، بل حكايات واعترافات تحمل دلالات وخلاصات ورسائل حان وقت التعبير عنها.
في لحظة خاطفة قررت أن فكرة هذا الكتاب يجب ألا تموت سريعاً كما ولدت سريعاً وتذهب إلى قاع النسيان كما ذهب الكثير من الأفكار الرائعة التي يجب أن تقال. أود أن أسرد الحكاية، وحان وقت التعبير عن اعترافات أكاديمي إماراتي متقاعد لديه الكثير الذي يود قوله كشاهد على لحظة خاطفة من لحظات عمره وعصره ووطنه.
