حينما تطلعت إلى إنتاج هذا الكتاب لم أكن مولعا فقط بسرد قصة تبدو مثيرة لي عن تاريخ مجهول، اعتقدت حينها أنه لا أحد غيري علم بشتاته، لكن دافعه الأكبر هو محاولة لفهم واقعي كفنان لجأ إلى الفيديو كوسيط مرن، بالإضافة إلى دوافع أخرى، نتجت عن تقاطعات اهتمامي بالبحث والكشف والإستقصاء عن تاريخ الفن خارج سياق أطروحاته الرسمية، وخصوصا من موقع فنان لا يعزل تلك الدوافع عن ممارسته الفنية، أو بصورة أخرى، رغبة من بالسعي وراء إمكانية سرد روايات مجهولة عن تاريخ محلي وغير رسمي اكتشفت أنه محاصر بسلطة الروايات المؤسسية لتاريخ الفن. ذلك التاريخ المجهول والمفقود الذي جمعت عنه شذرات ووثائف من دوسلدورف وبرشلونة وزيورخ وجنيف والقاهرة بداية من عام 2015.
