يحتوي الكتاب الذي على قسمين أساسيين: الحداثة ومابعدها ثم مابعد الحداثة، تغير أطروحات مثل التناص والنسوية ومابعد الحداثة والإنسان في مابعد الحداثة والتحليل النفسي وعلاقته بالأدب والثقافة في الحداثة ومابعدها، ثم اتجاهات علم النفس فيما بعد الحداثة، والإعلام الجماهيري وتأثيره بين حقبتين أيضاً ثم دراسة تطبيقية موسعة على أعمال الأديب الكوني الراحل جبرا إبراهيم جبرا بوصفه قد عاش الحداثة وانتقل إلى مابعدها فعلياً وأدبياً.
في القسم الثاني تستعرض الناقدة بعض المفاهيم الثورية التي تعززت في الألفية الثالثة، كمفهوم المكان الذي اقترحه الفيلسوف الألماني المعاصر بيتر سلوترديك في دراسة موسعة تستعرض جملة أعماله ومفاهيمه، ثم مفهوم الهولوكوست وما حظيت به من مكانة في المراحل الثلاث بحيث أصبحت ميزة تتمشى بين الأجيال وانعكاساتها الضممنية والمباشرة على الفن والأدب، ثم مفهوم اجتماعي وهو العنف ضد النساء وكيف تجاوزت التفسيرات النفسية مفاهيم باتت بالية كالفرودية واللاكانية نسبة لفرويد ولا كان، ثم مفهوم الأدب الإليكتروني الذي شاع في الألفية الثالثة.
وتستعرض الباحثة في أطروحة موسعة الأسس الفلسفية للمراحل الثلاثة وماتبعها من انحرافات في النموذج الفكري. وتتناول التحول في التقانات السردية وملامح الجماليات القادمة، وانقلابا في التفسير النفسي للإبداع طرحة العالم النفسي هاجمان عام 2010.
