عجائب الألفيَّة الثالثة" للكاتب الإيطالي الأشهر إميليو سالغاري، وترجمة أمارجي. وتُعَدُّ هذه الرِّواية العملَ الأهمَّ في تاريخِ أدب الخيال العلميِّ الإيطاليِّ وفقاً لإجماع النُّقَّاد، وكانت قد صدرَتْ في سنة 1907، وهي تتمحورُ حولَ رحلةٍ إلى المستقبل يقومُ بها رجلان يعيشان حياةً يخيِّمُ عليها الضَّجر والوحدة، فإذا بهما يقفزان إلى الأمام مِائة عامٍ في الزَّمن، من سنةِ 1903 إلى سنةِ 2003، ليعيشا حلمَاً من أحلامِ المستقبل المجهول، مستقبلٍ يبرعُ الكاتبُ في رسمِ ملامحه التي ستبدو لنا في كثيرٍ من الأحيان لصيقةً بواقعنا على نحوٍ مُخيف.
لا حدود لمخيِّلة سالغاري في هذه الرِّواية التي يصبُّ فيها نبوءاته المستقبليَّة ويطرحُ تساؤلاته الوجوديَّة، على طريقته، في قالبٍ مشوِّقٍ من الأحداث التي تتصاعدُ وصولاً إلى تلك الأوديسَّة التي يعيشها الأبطالُ عبرَ المحيط الأطلسيِّ العاصف، في صراعٍ مع أهوال الطَّبيعة ومع نزلاءِ مدينةِ إسكاريو البحريَّة ومع الوُحشانِ الضَّاريَةِ في جزيرة تَنرِيْف، في تثنويَّةِ العجز الكلِّيِّ والعَظَمَةِ اللَّانهائيَّة للإنسان، كأنَّما الكاتب يريدُ أن يقولَ في نهاية المطاف إنَّ وجودَنا البشريَّ ليسَ مكفولاً بأيِّ شيءٍ على الإطلاق.
ويُعَدُّ سالغاري، كما هو الحال مع أُمبِرتو إيكو وإيتالو كالفينو، أكثر الرِّوائيِّين الإيطاليِّين ترجمةً وانتشاراً في العالم؛ وكان نِتاجُ سالغاري الأدبيُّ مصدرَ إلهامٍ للكثير من عظماء الأدباء والسِّينمائيِّين الذين شغفوا بحبِّ رواياته، فقد أُنتج من رواياته ما يقارب الإثنين والأربعين فيلماً سينمائياً.
في مكتبة المخرج الإيطاليِّ الشَّهير فيديريكو فيلليني كان ثمَّة أكثر من خمسين روايةً لسالغاري. ومن بين الكُتَّاب الذين عشقوا سالغاري وقرأوه وألهمت رواياته خيالَهم: أُمبِرتو إيكو، غابرييل غارسيا ماركيز، كارلوس فوينتس، خورخي لويس بورخيس وبابلو نيرودا. وقد ألهمت أعمالُه كبارَ المخرجين أمثال ستيفن سبيلبيرغ وسرجو ليون. كما أنَّ تشي جيفارا قرأ اثنتين وستِّين روايةً من روايات سالغاري، حتَّى أنَّ "باكو إنياثيو تايبو" كاتبَ مذكَّرات جيفارا، عزا أفكارَ هذا الأخير ضدَّ الإمبرياليَّة إلى سالغاري.
