كوسطا تحملنا إلى عالم روائي مليء بالشّبق والشّهوة والخيبات وفي حانة رخيصة تدور خبايا مدينة تهاوت وتداعت وأكل بعض الأحياء فيها لحوم إخوانهم أكلا فإذا هي أشبهُ بمصبّ للآلام والفظاعات وإن تنادم فيها الشّاربون وقصوا على مسامع بعضهم ضاحكين أقذع قصصهم وأبشعها، فهذه قصص الهوامات الجنسيّة المكبوتة وتلك قصص بطولات فحولة الإذلال والسّاديّة، وفي ظلمة الزّوايا الخلفيّة للمدينة تنفلت الغرائز من عقالها فإذا حانة كوسطا مصبّ رغبات لم تُشبع وآمال لم تحقّق وصدى لأوجاع ضحايا الكبت والمذلّة انعكست في الرّواية فكأنّ كلّ المدينة أمست حانة قصيّة خلفيّة واختفى من النصّ وجهُ الحياة اليوميّة واتّضح القفا: نساءُ ورجال لا قيمة لهم لأنّهم محطّ ساديّة الأسياد ومصبّ الأحقاد والغضب وريش في مهبّ الرّياح ومتنفّس العجز المرّ عن تحقيق الذّوات.
