يلقي هذا الكتاب الضوء على علاقات العرب بمعظم الشعوب طوال خمسة عشر قرناً، ويخصّ منهم الفرس والترك والسلاف والصينيين والهنود والأفارقة واليهود والأوروبيين، حيث كان من نتائجها تشكيل الصورة المعاصرة وتخزينها في أعماق وعيهم، ويشير خاصةً إلى الظروف الموضوعية وإلى الفئات الدينية والسياسية والاقتصادية والثقافية وغيرها، التي لعبت دوراً هاماً في تشكيل تصورات الآخرين عن العرب.
