Book Description
أدّى الصراع العربي الإسلامي مع أوروبا خلال الألف سنة الماضية إلى تشكيل صورة سلبية ومشوّهة لدى كل من الطرفين عن الطرف الآخر. وتمّ الانطلاق من هذه الصورة النمطية لبناء مواقف عنصرية ما زالت قائمة حتى عصرنا الحاضر.
يقدّم المؤلّف عرضاً شاملاً لتطوّر صورة "الآخر" في الثقافة العربية، منذ ما قبل الإسلام، مروراً باحتلال الأندلس، والحروب الصليبية، فالغزوات الأوروبية الاستعمارية للبلدان العربية والإسلامية، وصولاً إلى مطلع القرن العشرين مع ما يسمّى بحركة النهضة العربية.
ويخلص المؤلّف إلى أن كلاً من الطرفين كوّن نظرته إلى الآخر في ظروف صراع وحروب وغزو واحتلال. ولم يتسنَّ لأيٍّ منهما أن يكوّن صورته عن الآخر في مناخٍ صحّي يؤهّله لرؤية إيجابيّاته كما يرى سلبيّاته.
