نُشرت رواية "عذراء أسيوط" للأديب اليوناني "كوستى ساجاراداس" باللغة اليونانية عام 1924، فكانت حدثًا مذهلًا في الأوساط الأدبية في مصر واليونان، فمؤلفها كان عميدًا للجالية اليونانية في أسيوط.
وهي رواية من الروايات اليونانية النادرة والمهمة لما تقدمه من بحث شامل للمجتمع المصري في فترة من أشد الفترات صعوبة، وهي أوائل القرن العشرين، أهتم بالمرأة المصرية ومكانتها في المجتمع ووجودها بالنسبة إلي الرجل والحق في الحب، وحقوق الرجل كسيد للأسرة وركز البحث في كثير من الموضوعات الشائكة ذات الحساسية المفرطة.
كل ذلك كان شغل "كامل" البطل الرئيسي في الرواية، الذي يعاني حالة من الصراع بين التقاليد التي تربي عليها والثقافة الغربية التي هي جزء من تكوينه كمحام في مدينة أسيوط.
إن "عذراء أسيوط" تعد اكتشافا حقيقيا يحق لنا أن نفتخر به.
