في عالمنا هذا لا شيء يولد ليموت. كل الأشياء تولد لتبقى، وإن كنا لا نعي طريقتها في البقاء. نحن نحمل بداخلنا بعضا ممن سبقونا، وبعضا ممن حولنا، بعضا من الأرض وبعضا من السماء. وعندما نرحل... لن نرحل فعلا. سيمضي بعضنا ويبقى أكثرنا في أشياء غيرنا وأشخاص سوانا. إنه قانون البقاء، لا شيء يفنى، ولا شيء يُستحدث من العدم.

ربما برؤية سليم لجسد الظلام العاري؟ أو بضياع لبنى في متاهات الماضي، وضبابية الحاضر ولزوجته؟ ربما بظهور المجذوب، وحكاياته الغرائبية اللا معقولة؟ أو بقصة حسين المجنح، ورحلة هروبه الطويلة من الجنون؟
هل بدأت القصة في حرب 48؟ أم 67؟
في حروب الإنسان الأول؟ أم في معركة الإنسان الأخير؟
من يعلم؟
ربما هي كل ذلك... وربما هي محض هُذاء.
