عندما لا يطلعك أحد على الحقيقة، يتعين عليك أحياناً المجازفة لاكتشافها بنفسك. هكذا بدأت المغامرة التي حملت شارلوك هولمز إلى أميركا، إلى وسط شبكة مميتة، حيث الموت والحياة رخيصان، وللحقيقة ثمن لا يدفعه أي شخص عاقل.
«نيرانُ التَمرُّد» رواية تجمع بين الغرابة والرعب، ولئن كان الخيال عادة يفتح آفاقاً رحبة للسّرد، فإنه في هذه الرواية يقترح الكتابة في عوالم مغلقة موصدة الأبواب؛ ليس بإمكان غير شارلوك هولمز فتحها!!
يذكر: أن "أندرو لين" مؤلف الرواية هو كاتب وصحفي. كان طوال حياته من المعجبين بشخصية شارلوك هولمز، شغفه بالروايات الأصلية التي ألفها السير آرثر كونان دويل، وعزمه على ابتكار شخصية شارلوك هولمز في سن المراهقة، مكناه من العمل على إرث كونان دويل، لإعادة إحياء شخصية المحقق الأكثر شهرة في العالم؛ ولكن كشاب في سن المراهقة، لاقى عمله نجاحاً تجارياً كبيراً، ونال إشادة النقاد. يعيش أندرو لين في دورست مع زوجته وولده.
تتألف سلسلة كتب "الشاب شارلوك هولمز" من الروايات الآتية: "سحابة الموت"، "نيران التمرد"، الجليد الأسود"، "عاصفة اللهب"، "لدغة الأفعى"، "حد السكين"، و"برودة القبر".
