يحكي الجزء الثالث عن رحلة بحث جن ووالدته وأخته الصغيرة عن مكان للراحة في أعقاب القنبلة وفي مواجهة الرفض والجوع والإذلال، فهم يدركون أنهم ما زالوا يملكون ويمكنهم مشاركة ممتلكاتهم الحقيقية: احترامهم لذاتهم، وأملهم، وقوتهم الداخلية.
"أريد أن أقتل جميع الأغنياء وقادة الحرب الذين لم يفكروا إلا فى مصالحهم الشخصية ... آه، فى الواقع لا توجد حماقة أكبر من حماقة إشعال حرب،
لقد تعذبنا بسبب الحرب" يقضى جن في الجزء الثالث الكثير من الوقت بحثًا عن الطعام ويعتني برجل يعاني من " مرض القنبلة " ويتعرض للتهديد والإساءة من قبل عائلته. قرب نهاية الجزء، يعلن الإمبراطور عن استسلامه في 15 أغسطس 1945. يتم بث الخطاب عبر الراديو ويراقب الأطفال البالغين في حزنهم أو غضبهم.
