بين دفتي هذا الكتاب يوميات الكاتبة "أناييس نن" (1903- 1977م) المولودة في ضاحية (نوبي) البارسية لأب أسباني، وأم ألمانية؛ تعتبر يوميات "أنانييس نن" حدساً أنثوياً إزاء أعماق النفس والعالم المحيط في القرن العشرين، تأثرت به الكاتبة وكتبت عنه، وخصوصاً إذا ما عرفنا أنها عاشت بصحبة أسماء لامعة في ميادين الإبداع الأدبي والفني في باريس في تلك الحقبة من الزمن منهم هنري ميللر، ولورنس داريل، والشاعر جول سوبر فيل وغيرهم كثير من بلدان مختلفة. تأتي أهمية يوميات "أناييس نن" من كونها نجحت في أن تجري فصلاً دقيقاً بين العواطف والمشاعر والأفكار، فقد غطت يومياتها سنوات الثلاثينيات والأربعينيات وصولاً إلى السبعينيات والتي تمثلت مجموعة هامة من الأحداث والأسماء والإنجازات الفنية، من أروع مواقفها على سبيل المثال موقفها من الموضوعة التسوية، فهي تأخذ على المتعصبات النسويات أن يبددن طاقاتهن في البحث عن أسباب لمعاداة الرجال، وتدعوهن للإنشغال بالإبداع الحقيقي الذي يكشف عن ذواتهن وأن يعملن لإقناع الرجال القريبين منهن إلى مشاركتهن في إنجاز التحرر الإنسان في كل العوائق والمخاوف التي تنتاب الجنسين ليكون كل شخص حقيقياً وأميناً وواعياً لواقعه وقادراً على إجتراح أحلامه.
