ألّف الكاتب الإيطالي كارلو لورينزيني المعروف باسم كارلو كولودي رواية "مغامرات بينوكيو – حكاية دمية" عام 1883م حين صدرت في صورتها النهائيّة كرواية للأطفال، لكنّ سرعان ما تمّ تخليد الرواية بين أمّهات الأدب العالمي.
كارلو كولّودي (1826- 1890م) كان صحفيّاً وكاتب قصص للأطفال، عُرف في أرجاء العالم بهذه الرواية الشهيرة الممتعة عن بينوكيو.
كان أبو الكاتب يعمل طباخاً بينما كانت أمه خادمة في بيت أحد النبلاء، وقد تمّت مساعدته لإكمال دراسته الكهنونيّة والفلسفيّة، لكنّه ما لبث أن ترك الدراسة ليعمل في إحدى المكتبات حيث بدأ احتكاكه المباشر مع عالم الكتب، عمل بعدها محرّراً وبدأ بالكتابة وخاصّة في "مجلة فلورنسا".
انخرط كولّودي بعدها متطوّعاً في فرقة توسكانا التي خاضت مختلف حروب الإستقلال في إيطاليا، وقد انعكست إهتماماته السياسية في أعماله الأدبيّة الأولى كما في مجلّته الساخرة التي كان يصدرها "المصباح".
بعد عدّة محاولات روائيّة ناجحة أصدر الكاتب أوّل رواية مترجمة للأطفال "حكايا الساحرات"، ثمّ المسلسل الروائي "رحلة جانيتّينو عبر إيطاليا"، في عام 1880م بدأ بنشر مغامرات بينوكيو على حلقات في "جريدة الأطفال"، وهي أوّل صحيفة إيطاليّة متخصّصة للأطفال، صدر الكتاب بعدها في مجلّد واحد، فأصبحت شخصيّة الدمية بينوكيو شخصية عالميّة محببّة لدى الكبار والصغار على حد سواء.
عندما مات كولّودي عام 1890م لم يكن يعرف مقدار الشهرة التي سينالها بسبب شخصيّة الدمية بينوكيو، بسبب هذا الكتاب الذي تُرجم في أكثر أنحاء العالم، حتّى إنّ مصادر اليونسكو تؤكّد أنّه تمّ ترجمة الرواية إلى حوالي 240 لغة من لغات العالم، وهذه محاولة جديدة تضاف بالعربيّة إلى ذلك التراث العالمي.
