كتاب " الصّحائف" لأبي الفضل الوليد، الصادر بُعيد نهاية الحرب العالميّة الأولى، يمثّل في الآراء التي يطرحها صورةً من صور الصّـراع الجاري الآن بين الغرب والشـّرق، وإن اختلفت الظروف والمعطيات والأطراف، وهو يُقدّم وجهات نظر ومواقف لا تزال حاضرةً لدى الأطراف المُتصارعة، كما يبين عن حال ثابتة رغم مرور الزّمان، وتتالي الأحداث في العالم. إنّه أمر يدعو للتأمّل في «صراع الحضارات»، وفي «نهاية التاريخ»، و "هراش الأمم"، وفي عالم يسوده العنف والظّلم والكراهيّة، وتحتدم فيه الصّراعات بين أطراف غير متكافئة، ويستعر فيه القتل، ويعمُّ البؤس وتشـريد البشـر وتهجيرهم باسم السعي لتحقيق العدالة ورفع الظّلم عنهم ، أو تحت راية الانتصار للدِّين، أو باسم محاربة الإرهاب.
من المفترض أن الأديان والأنبياء جاءوا لجعل الإنسان أكثر إنسانية وأخوة وتسامحا، لكن كتاب العهد القديم رسخوا منهج القتل والإبادة الجماعية، إبادة الآخرين، الغوييم، الذين لا يستحقون الحياة، والذين يجب تطهير الأرض منهم. وجاء المسيح حاملا رسالة عظيمة في المحبة والتسامح، لكن من حملوها جعلوها رسالة محبة تقطر دما، فباسم المحبة والسلام، وباسم المسيح ارتكبت أفظع المجازر وأبشعها في التاريخ الإنساني. وحين جاء الإسلام، خاتم الأديان السماوية ومكملها، جاء دينا إنسانيا عالميا متسامحا يحمل مبادئ تشـريعية صارمة، لكنه تقبل الأديان السماوية السابقة في إطار دولته وهيمنته. غير أنه لم يستطع أن يقضي على صور الصراع الدموي التاريخي.
باسم الدين انقسم البشـر وتصارعوا وتقاتلوا، انقسم فقهاء الأديان ومفسـروها وشـراحها، وقسموا الأديان كلها إلى مذاهب وطوائف تقتتل بصور مرعبة ومروعة فيما بينها، وتقاتل الآخرين. ولعل الصراعات الدموية في إطار الدين الواحد كانت أسوأ بكثير من الصـراع مع الأديان الأخرى، وليس المرء بحاجة للتمثيل على هذا، فالأمثلة في التاريخ كثيرة، واستحضار الحروب الصليبية، ومحاكم التفتيش، والفتنة الكبرى في الإسلام وما تلاها من صراعات، وحروب البروتستانت والكاثوليك الدموية في أوروبا، كافية لبيان حروب البشـر الدموية ذات اللبوس الديني المنغمس بالسياسة والاقتصاد.
