صاغ الشاعر عزوز عقيل قصائده في قالب موسيقي جميل، ونوّع في شكل القصيدة وكأنه يوازي بين العمودي والحر، كما نوّع في القافية، ووازى بين الأساليب، فكانت الحركية سمة غالبة في مجموعته «الأفعى». .
إنّ النص الشعري لدى عزوز عقيل حافلٌ بمعجم يتنوع بين العاطفة والطبيعة، ولا عجب في ذلك؛ فالعاطفة تحتاج إلى عناصر الطبيعة لتنمّيها وتؤجّجها.
إن جولةً في مجموعة «الأفعى» للشاعر «عزوز عقيل» جاءت بهذا البحث الذي يتكون من أربعة فصول يشمل الفصل الأول منها تعريفاً للأسلوبية ومفهومها وأشهر أعلامها، مع محاولة الاقتصار على الـمُحْدثين منهم، توخّياً للدِّقَّة والاختصار، لأن كلّ منعرج في مثل هذه الدراسة يصلح أن يكون بحثاً مستقلاً. وكذا مهامّها، و بيان أهمّيتها.
ويتناول الفصل الثاني الجانب الصوتي، من إيقاعٍ ووزنٍ موسيقي، كدلالة الأصوات. وأهمية القافية والروي وكل ما يتعلق بهذا الجانب.
ويتناول الفصل الثالث الجانب الصرفي من صيَغٍ ودلالةِ استعمالها، وما مدى نجاح الشاعر في الاختيار، والاستعمال وما مدى تأثيرها في هذه المجموعة.
ويتناول الفصل الرابع الجانب التركيبي، وقد كان التركيز فيه على الجُمَل بمختلَف تقسيماتها، سواء التقسيم الأسلوبي، كالنفي والتأكيد، أو التقسيم النحوي كالاسمية والفعلية، مع التركيز الذي تركتْه هذه الاستعمالات.
