وصل إلى الوسعاية, كان عم بدير يجلس على عتبة البيت المجاور. أشبه بعودة الذرة الناشف.. وتبدو ساقاه المعروقتان من الجلباب الترابى أشبه بخشبتين قد نخرهما السوس, وبجواره موز صفيح يبصق فيه بين الحين والأخر, ولا أحد من العيال يعرف سر هذه التحذيرات الصارمة بعدم الإقتراب منه, وإلا تعرضوا لعلقة تظل أثارها عل أجسامهم الناحلة لفترات طويلة مع أنه كان طبيباً ودوداً, يبتسم لهم, ويرتفع صوته المرتعش بالدعاء لهم واحداً واحد, كلما مروا من أمامه.
كل الذى يعرفه العيال فى الوسعاية أن عم بدير دخل مستشفى فاروق, وإختفى داخلها عاماً كاملاً دون أن يزوره أحد, غير زوجته البدينه, بعد أن تنتهى من ملء الأزيار من داخل أفنية البيوت بالماء. وذات صباح.. فوجئ الجميع به جالساً على عتبة الباب, تلك الجلسة التى لم يغيرها أبداً, والكوز الصفيح بجواره..
كان العيال فى الوسعاية قد إنتهوا من التقسيمة. ولم يعد أمامه غيرأن يقف جون, والواد حمودة حكم, وبدأت المبارة.. فجأة.. دوت صفارات الإنذار.. توقف العيال عن اللعب, وبدأو يتطلعون إلى السماء بإنتظار رؤية الطيارات, وهى تعبر السماء منخفضة, وكان صوت أم كلثوم ينبعث من الراديو الموضوع فوق رف خشبى فى دكان عم شتا البقال, وهى تغنى "تلات دول يا بورسعيد..".
