أبو عبيد البكري (000 - 487 هـ = 000 - 1094 م)
عبد الله بن عبد العزيز بن محمد البكري الأندلسي، أبو عبيد: مؤرخ جغرافي، ثقة. علامة بالأدب، له معرفة بالنبات.
نسبته إلى بكربن وائل.
كانت لسلفه إمارة في غربي جزيرة الأندلس. وقيل: كان أميرا، وتغلب عليه المعتضد.
وقال الصفدي: «كان ملوك الأندلس يتهادون مصنفاته، وكان معاقرا للراح، مدمنا، يكاد لا يصحو»
ولد في شلطيش (Saltes غربي إشبيلية) وانتقل إلى قرطبة. ثم صار إلى المرية، فاصطفاه صاحبها (محمد بن معن) لصحبته ووسع راتبه. وهذا ما حمل بعض المؤرخين على نعته بالوزير.
ورجع إلى قرطبة بعد غزوة المرابطين، فتوفي بها عن سن عالية.
له كتب جليلة، منها «المسالك والممالك - خ» غير كامل، طبع جزء منه باسم «المغرب في ذكر إفريقية والمغرب» وقطع خاصة بالروس والصقلب، و «معجم ما استعجم - ط» أربعة أجزاء، و «أعلام النبوة» و «شرح أمالي القالي - ط» و «التنبيه على أغلاط أبي علي القالي في أماليه - ط» و «فصل المقال في شرح كتاب الأمثال، لابن سلام - ط» منه مخطوطة كتبت سنة 608 في الرباط (158 ق) و «الإحصاء لطبقات الشعراء» و «أعيان النبات» وله «رسائل» بعث بها إلى بعض معاصريه.
وإنشاؤه مسجع على طريقة كتاب زمانه .
