الزَّمَخْشَرِي (467 - 538 هـ = 1075 - 1144 م)
محمود بن عمر بن محمد بن أحمد الخوارزمي الزمخشريّ، جار الله، أبو القاسم
من أئمة العلم بالدين والتفسير واللغة والآداب. ولد في زمخشر (من قرى خوارزم) وسافر إلى مكة فجاور بها زمنا فلقب بجار الله. وتنقل في البلدان، ثم عاد إلى الجرجانية (من قرى خوارزم) فتوفي فيها.

وكان معتزلي المذهب، مجاهرا، شديد الإنكار على المتصوفة، أكثر من التشنيع عليهم في الكشاف وغيره (1).
