ابن عربشاه (791 - 854 هـ = 1389 - 1450 م)
أحمد بن محمد بن عبد الله بن إبراهيم، أبو محمد، شهاب الدين، المعروف بابن عربشاه: مؤرخ رحالة، له اشتغال بالأدب ولد ونشأ في دمشق.
ولما غزا تيمورلنك ديار الشام تحول بعائلته إلى سمرقند، ثم انتقل إلى ما وراء النهرين.
وساح سياحات بعيدة.
وهبط أدرنة حيث اتصل بالسلطان العثماني محمد بن عثمان، فعهد إليه بترجمة بعض الكتب من العربية إلى الفارسية والتركية - وكان قد أحكمها في أسفاره - وعاد إلى دمشق بعد أن غاب عنها ثلاثا وعشرين سنة.
وبرع في الكتابة والإنشاء والنظم باللغات الثلاث - العربية والفارسية والتركية - ورحل في أواخر أيامه إلى مصر فأقام في الخانقاه الصلاحية إلى أن توفي.
له تصانيف حسنة أشهرها (فاكهة الخلفاء، ومفاكهة الظرفاء - ط) و (عجائب المقدور في أخبار تيمور - ط) و (منتهى الأرب في لغات الترك والعجم والعرب) و (التأليف الطاهر - خ) جزآن، في سيرة الملك الظاهر جقمق.
وترجم عن الفارسية إلى التركية كتابا في عدة مجلدات سماه (جامع الحكايات ولامع الروايات) وله في العربية (العقد الفريد في التوحيد) منظومة، و (غرة السير في دول الترك والتتر) وفي شعره العربي ركة.
ولعل لقب (ابن عرب شاه) عرض له في رحلاته
