في غابرِ التّاريخ، قُبيلَ الميلاد.
في منطقةِ بلاد ما بين النهرين، (دِجلة والفرات).
حيثُ منبع الحضارات، ومصبّ الحقائق، البساطةُ المعقّدة، الطبيعةُ السّمراء، والتّربةُ الحمراء.
الشّمسُ الصفراءُ بأشعتها الذهبيّة، ونَسمات هَوائها العليل.
تلك الأجواءُ الهادِئةُ، التي دائماً ما تُثيرُ الريّبة!
يَسيرُ ذلك المشتّتُ بِخطىً مُترنّحة، وملامح تُشبهُ الموتى! مُنهكاً، هزيلاً، بالكادِ يَجرُّ خَلفهُ ظِله.
ينظرُ بكلِ خلايا جَسده، وكأنَّها أعينٌ مُحدقةٌ كدواماتِ النّهر الذي يمشي على ضِفافه.
وكأنّهُ يَحملُ على مَتنهِ الحقيقةَ التي أَثقلتْ كاهلهُ.
وكاهلَ كلّ من سيأتي بعده.
تلكَ النائمةُ في زمن اليقظةِ
كجريمة! لتبقى ناعِسةَ الأهدَابِ، تخافُ مِنّ الصّحوة،
تتقولبُ في العباراتِ، والأنفسِ، بشكلٍ مُشاكسٍ للواقع.
تأبى التعرّي والتّرجلَ من بُرجِها العاجيِّ، تبقى متواريةً في الأفق.
