يُعدُّ كتابُنا هذا الأوّلَ في موضوعه إذ يسلّط الضوءَ على ما ذكره الرحالة الغربيّون، الذين مرّوا بالعراق والجزيرة العربية، عن الأرمن.
يستهلُّ الكتابُ بمقدمة تبيّنُ أهمية كتابات الرحالة كمصدرٍ تاريخيّ، ثم علاقة الأرمن بالمشرق العربيّ ودورهم في تاريخ المنطقة منذ عصور ما قبل التاريخ إلى ما قبل التاريخ الحديث، معرِّفًا دورَ الأرمن في تاريخ لبنان واليمن ومصر، ومتناولًا جذورَ الوجود الأرمني في العراق، ودور الأرمن في تاريخ العراق في العصور الوسطى والحديثة، ثم دورهم في الحياة الاقتصادية في العراق الحديث لا سيّما مكانتهم في تجارة البصرة.
يسلط الكتابُ الضوء على نموذج أرمني في بغداد هو "سارة خاتون" معرّفا دورَها في الحياة العراقية، اقتصاديا واجتماعيا وسياسيا ودبلوماسيا، ثم يستعرضُ الأرمنَ في كتابات رحالةٍ أوروبيّين في العراق أبرزُهم: فيدريجي، فيليب الكرملي، جون تايلور، جون آشر، تنكو آنيهولت، كييوم لجان، وأحوالَ أرمنِ بغداد بأقلام الرحالة: ليونهارت راوولف، دي مورس، جيمس بيلي فريزر، دليل لوريمز، وكلوديوس جيمس ريج، وستيفن همسلي لونكريك، وماكس فونس أوبنهايم، وويليان جيلفورد بالجريف، وجون لويس بوركهارت، والليدي درور، وجوناثان راندل، فضلا عن رحلةِ آن بلنت، ورسائل جيرتروود بيل، ثم يستعرضُ الأرمن في مجلة لغة العرب.
يختتم الكتاب بترجمات لبعض المقالات المنشورة في بعض الدوريات عن الأرمن والمسألة الأرمنية؛ الأرمن في المجتمع البريطاني، الإبادة الجماعية الأرمنية، سياسة الحرمان والعدل والإبادة الجماعية المنسيّة، لمحة تاريخية عن الإبادة الجماعية الأرمنية، الأرشيف العثماني والإبادة الجماعية الأرمنية.
