وبوسعنا أن نقول إن الخطوة الفنية والجمالية الأولى للخط العربي بدأت مع فجر الإسلام، ولعل أول مظهر من مظاهر الفن والجمال التي عني بها العرب بعد إسلامهم كان في تجميل الخط وتجويد آيات القرآن الكريم كتابة، مثلما عنوا بتجويدها قراءة وترتيلًا.
