يُعدُّ هَذا أوَّلَ نصٍّ مَسرحيٍّ لكاتِبةٍ ومُمثِّلةٍ مَسرحِيةٍ مِصْرية؛ السيِّدةِ «لطيفة عبد الله», ويُقدِّمُه لَنا الأستاذُ الدكتور «سيد علي إسماعيل» مُلحَقًا بدِراسةٍ وافِيةٍ عَنهُ وعَن كاتِبتِه...«الملكة بلقيس»؛ مَسرحِيةٌ أَدبِيةٌ غَرامِية, لَكِنها بالرَّغمِ مِنَ ارْتِباطِ اسْمِها بمَلِكةِ «سبأ», «بلقيس», فإنَّها تَسرُدُ وَقائِعَ قِصةٍ مُغايِرة, ولَا تَمُتُّ بِصِلةٍ إلَى الأَحْداثِ التارِيخيةِ عَن مَدِينةِ «سبأ» أو المَلِكةِ «بلقيس». عُرِضتْ هذِهِ المَسرحِيةُ للمَرةِ الأُولَى عَلى المَسارِحِ الخَشبِيةِ في أَواخِرِ القَرنِ التاسِعَ عَشَر, وقَدْ أظهَرَ لَنا المُؤلِّفُ بِداياتِ عَملِ الفِرقةِ المَسرحِيةِ التي شارَكَتْ فيها الكاتِبةُ «لطيفة عبد الله», والأماكِنَ التي قُدِّمتْ فِيها هذِهِ العُروض؛ وهُو ما يُبرِزُ الدَّورَ الذي لَعِبتْه الفِرَقُ المَسرحِيةُ قَدِيمًا في إِمْتاعِ الجُمْهورِ مُتعةً ثَقافِيةً وأَدبيةً عالِية, بإمْكانِياتٍ بَسِيطة. كَما أَلقَى الضَّوءَ عَلى الإِسْهاماتِ المُبكِّرةِ والجادَّةِ للمَرْأةِ المِصْريةِ في الفَنِّ المَسرحيِّ الحَدِيث.
