مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

يُعَدُّ الحبُّ والوفاء من القيم النادرة في عصرنا؛ فقد صرنا نفتِّش عنهما في صدور الناس كالذي يبحث عن شيءٍ ثمينٍ فَقَده. وفي رواية «رجوع الموجة» تعرض لنا الأديبة الكبيرة «مي زيادة» إحدى صور فقدان تلك القيم؛ فقد أحبَّت «مرغريت» زوجها «ألبير» حبًّا فاق التصور, وكان ثمرة هذا الحبِّ ابنتهما «إيفون», لكن هذا الزوج الحاقد قابل وفاء زوجته بالخيانة, وطعنها في كبريائها إذ خانها مع صديقتها «بلانش», فتكالبت على الزوجة المصائب من غدر الزوج ووفاة الابنة الحبيبة, فتركته وتزوَّجت من ابن عمها «روجر» الذي أحبَّها كثيرًا, وأنجبت منه ولدها «مكسيم», وبعد مرور أحدَ عشرَ عامًا تقف «مرغريت» حائرة بين حياتها الماضية وحياتها الآن, فهل تترك هذا الزوجَ الوفيَّ وتعود إلى ذلك الرجل الخائن الذي ما زالت تحبُّه؟ إنه الصراع بين القلب والعقل, فمَنْ تُراه ينتصر؟!
