كقطارٍ صدئ منهارٍ وعالقٍ بين الحطام في حقلٍ مغطى بالأعشاب الضارة والزهور، لم تكن جنازته قد انتهت بعد.
كان آخر سطرٍ من النص يشير إلى نهاية بروفة طويلةٍ أخرى. غداً موعد بروفة الملابس، أما الافتتاح فسيكون بعد غد. كان الممثلون منتشرين في الأرجاء، في حين كنت أصعد السلالم ببطءٍ نحو المكتب المجاور لمدخل المسرح الصغير. كان مديري يتحدث عبر الهاتف، لكنه لوّح لي كي أدخل حين لمحني. تابع حديثه على الهاتف، وعندما انتهى أخذ يطلع على الرسائل النصية قبل أن يتفرغ لمحادثتي.
قال لي: «هناك صحفيان يريدان إجراء مقابلة غداً، وبما أنك المخرجة يتوجب عليك مقابلتهما يا جونغ هيونغ».
قال ذلك، وكأنما ينبغي أن أكون سعيدة بسماع ذلك، لكنني كنت جدّ مرهقة حتى لأجيب. كما أنني سئمت من مناداته لي باسم هيونغ طوال الوقت، فهو لقب تقديري يتخاطب به الرجال المتساوون. أنا أدعى جونغ ووهي، وأحب أن ينادونني بهذا الاسم، ولكن بالرغم من أنه يحاول أن يظهر لي الودّ وأننا زميلان متساويان إلا أنه في الحقيقة كان يعاملني كعبد.
لم أتناول أي شيءٍ منذ الغداء، وقد تجاوزت الساعة الآن التاسعة، ومنذ وقت طويل توقفت معدتي عن إصدار الأصوات. تم اقتباس العمل الذي نمثله هذه المرة من روايةٍ ما، حيث حصلنا على حق الاقتباس من المؤلف مباشرةً. وقد علمت أن الشركة ليست مضطرةً لشراء نص أصلي، ومع ذلك لا يزال على الشركة أن تدفع لي مقابل ما قمت به لجعل النص يتلاءم مع المسرح، بعد أن وافقت على إخراجه، وأمضيت عدة أشهر وأنا أكد وأكدح على الورق، حتى اللحظة لم أحصل على بدل عن جهودي في الكتابة. لم أكن الوحيدة التي لم تحصل على أي نقود بل الممثلين أيضاً، لكنني أعتقد أننا كنا نعلم ما نحن مقدمون عليه.
