مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

« نقدات عابر» رسائل أدبيّة ومقالات وخواطر للشّاعر اللبناني مارون عبّود، يقدّم فيها نظرةً نقديّةً خاصّة وآراءً حولَ الأدب والشّعر، حيث يتناول علاقة الأدب بالحياة، ويسلّط الضّوء على أحداث تسبّبت بقيام ثورةٍ على القديم، ممّا جعله يتطرّق إلى الشّيوخ والشّباب في الأدب. ثمّ تناول المُؤلَّفات الشّعريّة، والرّوائع الأدبيّة والمسرحيّة لأُدباء لبنان، والتي عنوَنها بـ: شعراؤنا والرّبيع، وتطرّق إلى مواثيق العهد الجديد، وذكريات جبيل، وبعض الشّخصيّات الشّهيرة مثل محمد كرد علي، وتعرّض إلى أعلام إشبيلية، وناقش القضيّة الفلسطينيّة أيضًا، والمكانةَ التي شغلها جمال الدين الأفغاني في الشّرق.
يبيّن الكتاب القيمة الأدبيّة والفكريّة لمؤلفات خاصّة بأبناء الأرْز، ونوّعَ حيث ذكر أشعارًا لنزار قبّاني وبدر شاكر السيَّاب كذلك، ويعرّج الكتاب على أبي الطيّب المُتنبّي موردًا نبذةً عن أشعاره التي توّجته أميرًا في إمارة الشّعر العربي.
مارون عبّود رائد النّهضة الأدبيّة الحديثة في لبنان ينقل نظرته للقارئ، ويمدّه بتاريخٍ مُختزلٍ من الأدب، ثمّ يعتبرها نظرةً عابرة، يدرك القارئ قيمتها الفكريّة ودورها الفاعل في نمو الأدب وتطوّره.
