يعدّ كتاب "قصة حياتي" لكاتِبه العلامة أحمد لطفي السيد، من كتب المذكرات، إذ يروي فيه الكاتب مذكراته، وتعود أهمية هذا الكتاب لأنه يركز على شخصيةٍ مهمةٍ من شخصيات النهضة الثقافية في مصر، وأحد روادها الكبار في بدايات القرن العشرين، كما وقد نال الكاتب لقب "أستاذ الجيل" بجدارةٍ واقتدار، نظراً لعدد الأدباء والمفكرين الذين تلقوا العلم وتَتلمذوا على يديه، حيث أطلق عليه "العقّاد" وصف أفلاطون الأدب العربي، حيث يعدّ أحمد لطفي السيد صاحب فضلٍ كبيرٍ وإسهاماتٍ كثيرةٍ على مستوى الفكر، بالإضافة للمُستوى الحركي، حيث أنه تقلد عدداً من المناصب والمراكز السياسية رفيعة المستوى في الدولة، منها منصب وزير الخارجية، ووزير المعارف، ونائب رئيس الوزراء، وقد تحقق في زمنه العديد من المنجزات الثقافية والأدبية والتعليمية، لذلك يعتبر كتابه "قصة حياتي"، بمثابة ترجمةٍ لحياة شخصٍ أسهم في نهضة جيلٍ بأكمله، يقدم سيرة الكاتب الذاتية بطريقةٍ ممتعةٍ بعيدة عن التكلف، فكلّ صفحةٍ فيه تزخرٍ بذكريات ملهمةٍ لمن يقرأها، لأنها بمثابة مرجعٍ تاريخي وشخصي غني جداً.
