إن قصة الأندلس عجيبة حقًّا، مثيرة للنفس حقًّا فيها من أحاديث البطولة والإقدام ما يعجب له العجب، ويهتز له عطف العربي الكريم فيها جرأة طارق، وإقدام عبد الرحمن الداخل، وعزيمة الناصر، وعبقرية المنصور، فيها إلى جانب كل هذا أمثلة رائعة للصبر حين البأس، وللجلد على أشده المكروه، وللتمسك بالعقيدة والسيف مسلط فوق الرؤوس، وللثبات في مأزق يفر فيه الشجاع.»
