كتابة هذا العمل تأمليّة، تعكس خبرة ذاتيّة عميقة، وجلدًا على البحث والتقصّي، فهو يشتمل على فيضٍ من المقالات الجادّة، ذات المستوى الرّفيع، تحتوي موضوعات كثيرة، وتفتح آفاقًا مختلفة في الفكر والأدب والفلسفة والسّياسة والاجتماع. يتراوح طول المقالة لديه ما بين ثلاث إلى خمس عشرة صفحة، بحيث تجيء عباراته جامعة لأفكاره وعواطفه بعيدًا عن الغموض، ومضامين الكتاب تجعلنا نطلق عليه مسمّى: «موسوعة الحضارة الإسلامية».
