هذا المجلّد الثالث من دروب المنفى يتابع الكاتب سرد الحكاية الفلسطينية في المنفى. ويبدأ بالعام 1958 الذي شهد انضمام سورية إلى مصر في دولة الجمهورية العربية المتحدة، كما شهد تبلور السعي الفلسطينيّ لإعادة بناء الحركة الوطنيّة الفلسطينية التي دمرتها نكبةُ 1948. ويُغطّي المجلّد الفترة من 1958 حتى 1963، أي إلى العام الذي تسلّم فيه السلطة في سورية التحالف الذي ضمّ حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي والحركة الناصريّة وهو ذاته العام الذي شهد انفكاك هذا التحالف ودخول طرفيه في صراع دامٍ هو الصراع الذي بلغ ذروته في 18 تموز/يوليو 1963، والذي وَجَدَ الفلسطينيّون أنفسهم منهمكين فيه، ويروي المجلّد أسراراً من وقائع هذا الصراع جرى نشرها فيه لأول مرّة.
