القصة الأولى هي قصتها مع زوج أمها عازف الكمان المريض بعظمة الجنون الذي أفضى به إلى السُّكْر والتكبر على عمله، وهنا كانت الحياة الأولى لنيتوتشكا التي شهدت صراعات بين أمها وزوجها حول المال وصراعات أيضًا حول حبها لكل منهما.. وسنجد في هذه القصة تمثيلًا حقيقيًّا لعقدة إليكترا من خلال تعلق نيتوتشكا بزوج أمها رغم أن تصرفاته لا تجعله محط إعجاب أبدًا.
والقصة الثانية هي قصة حياة نيتوتشكا بعد وفاة أمها وزوج أمها، في منزل الأمير الذي كفلها وأسكنها قصره، وانتقالها إلى حياة أفضل واكتشافها نفسها من جديد داخل القصر مع شخصيات جديدة مختلفة، وصداقتها مع ابنة الأمير "كاتيا"، وهنا سنتعرف على أنواع جديدة من المشاعر والحب والتعلق.
والقصة الثالثة هي قصة السر الغامض في حياة ألكسندريا، التي ستعلم وتربي نيتوتشكا بل وستعتبرها ابنتها..
وفي الرواية كلها سنجد أنواعًا من المشاعر والعواطف والصراعات والاضطرابات نسجها المؤلف في حبكة روائية وسردية من خلال بطلة الرواية..
