تُشكل رواية «كف القدر» للكاتب بلحسن سيد علي نوعاً روائياً قائم الذات في مسار الرواية الجزائرية؛ يُمكن وصفه بتكسير قوالب الكتابة الواقعية التقليدية الرتيبة، ومحاولة إيجاد طرائق مغايرة يُمكن من خلالها تحقيق نوع من الانتقادات الاجتماعية والسياسية لِما هو كائن في الوطن وبنفس الوقت استثمارها (روائياً) في تقصي آخر الأبحاث العلمية حول حالات نفسية حيرت الأطباء برزت في الرواية من خلال حالة مرضية مستعصية عاشها بطل الرواية وتمثلت بثلاث سنوات غيبوبة، يروي خلالها أنه عاش ثلاث مرات إلى درجة أنه لم يعد يُفرق بين الواقع والحلم؟.
هي قصة شاب جزائري لطمته كف القدر مرات ومرات، عاش بسبب سياسة الفساد التي انتهجتها بلاده صعوبات في الدراسة وفي إيجاد فرصة عمل وفي بناء بيت وعائلة وآخرها فقدان عائلته بأكملها في حادث سير مفاجئ، على يد شابين طائشين من أبناء السلطة السياسة في البلاد، الشيء الذي أصابه بصدمة نفسية حادة فكانت حالته حالة تشبه إنساناً مات وعيه وغُيب وبقي بدنه حياً، دخل في غيبوبة ظنها واقعاً وزاد من الأمر غموضاً حين أقر للأطباء أن هذا الذي يقصه عليهم ما هو إلا جزء يسير مما يراه، فهو يعيش حيوات عديدة يرى فيها أشياء كثيرة، ولكنه ينسى معظمها مباشرة حين يستيقظ من نومه، أو يسترجع وعيه أو حين يعود من غيبوبته.. فهل يستطيع الطب الحديث تفسير هذه الحالة ومساعدة المريض للعودة إلى حياته الطبيعية؟
