ومنذ ذلك اليوم صار في وسعهم أن يتباهوا أنهم يدرسون في الإعدادية بسبب الحب، لا بسبب الطموح إلى أيّ غاية.
وفي ذلك اليوم ذهبوا إلى سهل الزرازير، وصرخوا هاتفين: "عاش الحبّ!"، وتركوا أصواتهم هناك، آملين ان تبقى إلى آخر أعمارهم.
وسيقول أحمد الشايب، في ما بعد، إن السهل كان قد أضحى مستودعاً لأحلام أهل المنارة وأمنياتهم وطلباتهم ومعارفهم وذكرياتهم، منذ أن اكتشف قاسم الفضل أنه يستطيع أن يخزّن فيه صوته، وأن الأصوات تبقى هناك، لا يستطيع أحد أن يزيلها، إلا صاحبها، وقد بقي ذلك الهتاف الثلاثي محبوساً هناك في السهل، دون أن يعرف أحد متى يمكن أن يُفكّ قيده.
