المجنون بأنه ""مجنون غير ظاهر""، فالسيكوباثى هو الشخص الذى يعانى نفسيًّا ""سايكوباثوس بالأصل اليونانى تعنى: الروح المعذبة""، ما معناه أن نفسيته متضررة، ومع ذلك تتكيف بالوسط الاجتماعى دون إبراز الضرر الداخلى بشكل واضح، عكس المجنون.
أما المجنون هو سايكوباثى ظاهر، فإذا طلبتُ منك أن تعرّف المجنون، تلقائيًّا سيذهب عقلك لتذكّر بعض المجانين الذين عرفتهم أو تعرفهم أو سبق لك رؤيتهم، وهم بطبيعة الحال الأشخاص الذين يقومون بتصرفات غريبة وليس لها تفسير، لأنها لا علاقة لها بالتصرفات الطبيعية المتوقعة من البشر، فشخص يركض عاريًا، ويضع فقط ربطة عنق فى الشارع بالصباح الباكر، مباشرة سيوصم بالجنون، لأننا لا نتوقع من الناس الذهاب للعمل بتلك الطريقة .
