رواية "موسم الفراشات الحزين" عمل سردي يسعى لاستعادة روح مقاومة الاحتلال ليس عبر العنف ولكن عبر الحلم بالحرية، وعبر حياة بطل الرواية الذي يحلم في بلده المحتل بأن يكون حامل الورد يروي العمل مأساة أسرة شردها الاحتلال، ولا يذكر المؤلف اسم الوطن المحتل الذي يصلح أن يكون مكانًا واقعيًا محددًا أو رمزا لكل وطن تحت الاحتلال، ويقترب المؤلف في عمله من أسلوب الواقعية السحرية مازجًا الحقائق التاريخية بأحلام أبطاله.
