يعد الكاتب والصحافي الإماراتي سعيد البادي، نفسه على سفر دائم، موضحاً أن «المسألة ليست مجرد الخروج الجسدي من الحيز الذي تحيا فيه، وعبور حدود وطنك، فمجرد أن فكرك مشغول بتلك الحالة من التنقل والرغبة في الاستكشاف، فذلك سفر، لذا وأنا جالس وأنا أخاطبك حالياً أعد نفسي رحالاً»، مشيراً إلى أنه قديماً كانت للسفر سبع فوائد، أما في زماننا فقد تخطت ربما ذلك بكثير، دونماً تحديد.
يشار إلى أن البادي بدأ رحلته المهنية مع الصحافة في الإعلام العسكري، في مجلة درع الوطن، قبل أن ينضم إلى جريدة الاتحاد التي نشر فيها سلسلة طويلة من مقالاته في أدب الرحلات، وعمل مراسلاً متجولاً، وشارك في تغطية كوارث ومجاعات وحروب في مناطق مختلفة من العالم.

يواصل المؤلف سعيد البادي في كتابه الثاني "مع ملائكة مكة" مشواره مع أدب الرحلات، والذي بدأه في "المدينة الملعونة" -الصادر عن صفصافة للنشر- حيث يسرد تفاصيل رحلة حجه إلى الأراضي الحجازية، ويقول: لقد ارتحلت كثيرا في بلاد الله الواسعة، ذهبت شرقا وغربا، شمالا وجنوبا، جبت الآفاق بحثا عن المعرفة وعن شيء ما لا يزال في علم الغيب، بحثت عن ذاتي في أسفاري، وتعلمت من السفر والترحال أشياء كثيرة أثرت بشكل ما في حياتي وفي مخزوني المعرفي، لدرجة أن بعض الرحلات غيرت مسار حياتي، كهذه الرحلة الفريضة التي اعتبرها رحلة مختلفة بكل المقاييس، رحلة مقدسة، رحلة إلى الله، وإلى بيته العتيق، وإلى مركز الكون، ومركز الأرض، وإلى نقطة بداية انطلاق الحضارة البشرية، إلى حيث بدأ الإنسان بعمارة الأرض.
