"قبل أن ينهى حليم دوامه أخبره الكفيل أن هناك المزيد من العمل، ورغم أن جسده تهالك بعد اثنتى عشرة ساعة من العمل المتواصل، إلا أنه لا يترك فرصة لجنى الأموال ويقتنصها؛ فأولاده وزوجته ينتظرون جنيهاته لتعوضهم عن غيابه الدائم، يلهيهم برغد العيش المتمثل فى بيت ذى أرضية سيراميك وسخان مياه وبانيو، يعوضهم بغالى الملبس وراقى المأكل، دراجات لكل منهم، هواتف حديثة، يحاول أن يجعل لغربته مقابلا يرضيه ويرضى أبناءه.
العمل الإضافى المكلف به قد يمتد لثمانى ساعات أخريات
فلا يتبقى من يومه إلا القليل لينامه لاضير ،
هكذا حدث نفسه.
