إن الخجل آفة كثير من النفوس وهو يسيطر على الإنسان فى درجات مختلفة، منها ما هو طفيف ومنها ما هو كبير إلى درجة يشل فيها الإنسان ويفقده دوره الفعال فى الحياة الإجتماعية ولكن السؤال المحير هو ما هي أسباب الخجل؟ وكيف يتكون فى الإنسان؟ من المؤكد أن الإنسان عندما يخلق لا يكون خجولاً أى أن الخجل ينمو مع نمو الإنسان أو يمكن القول بأن الأطفال عندما يولودون يكون لديهم ميل لأن يكونوا خجولين وكأن بذرة الخجل تخلق معهم وهنا تبرز أهمية التربية فإما أن تقوم بسقاية تلك البذرة لتنمو وتكبر أو أن تقضى عليها لتذهب دون عودة.... ومشكلة الخجل تعتبر مشكلة إنسانية ويعانى منها الأفراد فى جميع المجتمعات والثقافات ويسبب للشخص الذى يعاني من الخجل مشاكل كثيرة يجد صعوبة فى خلق علاقات إجتماعية وصداقات مع الآخرين، وقد يؤدى إلى الخوف والرهبة والاضطرابات العصبية والنفسية، والخوف من تأدية أى مهارة أو عمل خوفا من الفشل بسبب ما يجده من صعوبة فى التركيز على ما يجري من حوله وقد يعجز عن مواجهة أى طارئ أو حادث بمفرده.
ونظراً لأهمية موضوع الخجل وآثاره السلبية والتى تنعكس على أداء الأطفال والمراهقين والكبار - أقدم هذا الإصدار من سلسلة ثقافة سيكولوجية للجميع أتناول فيه موضوع الخجل ككل تعريفه، والفرق بينه وبين الحياء، أعراضه، أضراره، صفات الطفل أو الشخص الخجول، أسبابه، وعلاجه من منظور إسلامي ونفسي، بعض القصص والاستشارات من الواقع عن الخجل.. إلى جانب الكثير من الأمور الخاصة بهذا الموضوع.. وذلك بهدف تنمية الوعي نحو هذا الموضوع الهام.. وادعوا الله أن أكون قد وفقت فى عرضه، وأن ينتفع به الجميع المنفعة القصوي، وأن يتقبل الله هذا العمل خالصاً لوجهه الكريم.
