ويدور جزء من الرواية في السعودية، خصوصاً مكة سدرة الحج والعمرة، من خلال خبرة الرواي، وهو رجل فندقي. الرواية فيها تعريف أيضاً بجنسيات مختلفة وكثيرة، تجيء للحج والعمرة، ولكن التركيز منصب على مسلمي جنوب إفريقيا من أصل هندي، وهم ممن يعملون بالتجارة، وهناك خيط عاطفي مستمر من أول الرواية إلى آخرها، ويتخللها بعض الخبرات في كينيا، من خلال الراوي كذلك، وزارها في أثناء رحلته إلى جنوب إفريقيا.
