كتاب وجها لوجه سيمون دو بوفوار وجان بول سارتر (الحياة والحب) – هازل روليمثل أبيلار هيلواز دفنا في قبر مشترك، ارتبط اسماهما معاً إلى الأبد. كانا زوجين من أزواج العالم الأسطوريين. لا يمكننا أن نفكر باحد منهما من دون التفكير بالآخر: سيمون دو بوفوار وجان بول سارتر. في نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية تبوأ سارتر وبوفوار، على نحوسريع، مكانة عالية بو صفهما مفكريَنْ حرين وملتزمين. كتبا في جميع الأنواع الاديبة: المسرحيات والروايات والدرا سات الفلسفية وقصص الرحلات والسيرة الذاتية والمذكرات و أدب السيرة والصحافة. وقد شكلت رواية سارتر الأولى «الغثيان» حدثاً في عالم الرواية الفرنسية المعا صرة. وغدت مسرحياته العشر حديث المو سم المسرحي في باري . وأحدثت درا ساته الفلسفية: «الوجود والعدم» و «نقد الفكر الديالكتيكي» وغيرها صدمة هذا إلى جانب بحثيه الأدبيين اللذين كرسهما لجان جينيه وغوستاف فلوبير. لكنه ربما سيُذكر على نحو أفضل من خلال سيرته الذاتية «كلمات»، هذا الكتاب الذي أكسبه جائزة نو بل. وسترتبط وبوفوار دائماً بكتابها الهام «الجن الآخر» وبمذكراتها وبروايتها اللامعة «المندرين» التي ا ستحضرت فيها جو أوربا بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية.
