ساروا مسافةً لا تتعدى مائتى متر حتى انتهت الأشجار إلى ساحةٍ مستديرة بانتظامٍ عجيب يُوحى بأن صانعها أعدها كمسرحٍ لشيءٍ ما يتناسب معها، وقبل أن تخطو أرجلهم خطوةً واحدة داخلها، إذا به يخرج في مواجهتهم، وبخطواتٍ قليلة بلغ منتصف الدائرة وتوقف عندها بجسمٍ مشدودٍ ورأسٍ مرفوعٍ كأنما يعلن ملكيته لها وقدسيتها له، ارتجفت أوصالهم وذهلت أعينهم المتسعة والتى عجزت عضلاتُ الإنقباض أن تعود بها لوضعها الطبيعى وهم لا يستطيعونَ الذهابَ ببصرهم عنه، إنه ذلك الكائن الضخم المهيب، ولم يكن ذلك المصدرُ الوحيد لذهولهم ورعبهم الذي ألمّ بهم، بل للمكونات الغريبة التي تظهر عليه، ومن أعماق سحيقة أخيراً استطاعوا أن يروا لمعة عينيهِ التي تحدقُ بهم بمثل ما يفعلون نحوه
