ولد زكريا عبد الجواد بمحافظة البحيرة وتخرج من جامعة المنصورة عام 1975.
حاز على جائزة الصحافة العربية (فرع التحقيقات الصحفية) عام 2002، عن استطلاع صحفي نشر في مجلة العربي الكويتية بعنوان "اريتريا..
