فجأة ودون أن يقصد، تحول الشاب إلى كائن مقدس. هكذا، تشبثت به قبيلة من أشباه العراة، تعيش في أقصى بقاع الهند. لكن المفارقة هنا، أن هذا الشاب، الذي ظل مطارداً، هو من أصل عربي، فلسطيني تحديداً، ظلت السلطات تلاحقه، إلى أن وجد نفسه بعد معاناة، وسط قوم من أشباه العراة، اقتادوه مكبلاً، ليجد نفسه بعد لحظات، وعلى الرغم منه، مقدساً. مفارقة مدهشة، تلتقط خيوطها، رواية خيار الصفر، وهي تبحر في مصير الإنسان العربي، الهارب، المطارد، المقموع والمحاصر في بلاده وخارجها، عابرة بقارئها فوق بساط يمتزج فيه العجائب بالواقع، والسحر بالمتخيل، منتقلاً ن الشرق الأوسط بكل مآسيه إلى تخوم الهند، وأكثر مناطقها نأياً، حيث يصعد صوت الإنسان المسحوق صارخاً، رافضاً أحياناً، ومستسلماً في الغالب، لمصادفات غريبة، تتلاعب به، لتنقله في نهاية الأمر، من خانة ما هو معتاد، إلى حيث يتلقى الصدمات المباغتة. إنها معزوفة، باذخة الألم، لمأساة تعايشها أجيال متعاقبة، منذ بدأ الزمن العربي الجميل في الأفوال.
