تعتبر عبير من أكثر سيدات المنازل تمسكًا بالعادات الصحية السليمة، وهي تتبع دائمًا قواعد صارمة، سواء في نواحي النظافة أو الأكل أو اللباس، ويشمل ذلك اتباع شعائر الدين الحنيف بحذافيرها المملة، فلا أحد يعرف العبرة النهائية من هذه التعاليم، وهناك الكثير الكثير من التفاصيل الصغيرة في شعائرنا لم يحل لغزها إلا مؤخرًا، وبأيدي أكبر علماء العالم، من مسلمين وغير مسلمين (معظمهم أعلنوا إسلامهم ولو سرًّا) بعد اكتشافهم عظمة هذا الدين.
وهكذا فإن عبير عندما تأوي إلى فراشها ليلاً، وقد أنجزت ما عليها من أعباء منـزلها الصغير، تضع رأسها على مخدتها وتغمض عينيها وهي تشعر بالرضا العميق عن نفسها، وسرعان ما يتسلل النوم إلى رأسها وهي تحاول إنهاء قراءة أذكارها الليلية. ويعتبر التعب الذي تشعر به طبيعيًّا جدًّا؛ فهي ما توقفت عن العمل منذ الصباح الباكر.
وقد عاشت عبير حياة سعيدة للغاية، تميَّزت كما ذكرنا بالقناعة والرضا، ولم ينغص عيشها الكريم سوى بضع حوادث متفرقة سنذكرها بالتفصيل، فكل حادث منها استدعى الآخر. هذا مع العلم أن القواعد الصارمة التي تتبعها عبير في حياتها لم تخرق، لا من قبلها ولا من قبل أحد من أفراد أسرتها، وهذا ما كان يؤرق ضميرها الديني، ويجعلها في حالة قلق ما كان يجب منطقيًّا أن تتعرض لها مؤمنة في مثاليتها.
