تعد مرحلة الشباب من أزهى وأجمل وأقوى مراحل العمر في حياة الإنسان، ولذلك يُنظَر إلى هذه الفترة الزمنية على أنها الفترة الذهبية في حياة كل إنسان؛ فمرحلة الشباب هي فترة التألق والظهور في مسرح الحياة، وهي كذلك فترة العمل والعطاء، فترة الحيوية والنشاط، فترة القوة والصحة، فترة الإنتاج والإبداع، فترة السعي والكدح والحركة..
ولذلك كله، تمتاز مرحلة الشباب عن غيرها من المراحل بالقوة والحيوية والفاعلية والنشاط؛ فأيام الشباب هي مرحلة القوة بين ضعفين: ضعف الطفولة، وضعف الشيخوخة. وقد عبر القرآن الكريم عن ذلك بقوله تعالى: {اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعْدِ ضَعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعْفًا وَشَيْبَةً يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاء وَهُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْقَدِيرُ} [الروم: 54] فمرحلة الطفولة هي مرحلة ضعف واعتماد على الوالدين، ومرحلة الشيخوخة مرحلة ضعف أيضاً وعجز عن العمل والعطاء والنشاط، أما مرحلة الشباب فهي مرحلة القوة والحيوية، والقدرة على العمل والنشاط والإنتاج.
ومن ثم، فإن من يفرط في شبابه يفرط في حياته كلها؛ فمن لا يعمل بجد، ومن لا يدرس برغبة، ومن لا يعطي بسخاء، ومن لا يتحمل المسؤولية بقوة أيام شبابه.. لن يستطيع أن ينجز ذلك أيام شيخوخته وعجزه. أما من يستثمر شبابه أحسن استثمار فهو بالتأكيد سيحقق كل أو بعض أمنياته وأحلامه وآماله وأهدافه في الحياة.
